Personal History | Kev was born in 2352 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the eldest child of Richard and Kathryn Walker. His father Richard was a corporate manager in starship manufacturing while his mother Kathryn worked as a medical administrator. When Kev was twelve the family relocated to Miami, Florida for his father’s career. Richard and Kathryn placed heavy emphasis on athletics, believing sports would provide their son with discipline teamwork and health. Against his own interests Kev was pushed into football at age fifteen. While he was naturally strong and capable excelling as a player he never truly enjoyed the game. His real fascination was with the engineering and operations systems he read about in Federation journals and encountered through school programs. Kev’s relationship with his parents was sometimes strained and while they were proud of his achievements they didn’t always understand his passion for starship systems. His younger sister Emily pursued medicine and was often seen as the golden child which only reinforced Kev’s determination to prove himself in his own way. At the Academy Kev distinguished himself in engineering and operations coursework. His professors noted his preference for methodical by the book approaches but also praised his ability to improvise when pushed into emergencies. He built a reputation as a team player and someone who kept his cool and focused on solutions rather than panic. |
