Mission: Beginnings
Mitsu felt the day's long hours as she stepped into her quarters. The doors slid closed behind her, cutting off the background noise in the corridor and allowing her a long awaited moment of peace and quiet. Like all Starfleet ships, the captain's quarters were one of the more elegant and comfortable aboard, but the Eclipse being a small ship they were sized accordingly.
She was used to small quarters, however. Her previous command, the USS Sierra, had been a Nova class star ship as well. It had been an adjustment after spending time aboard larger, more grand star ships, but after the disastrous end of her relationship with her now ex wife, Mitsu had decided not to pursue command of the USS Intrepid. The ship had just seemed to be too haunted with memories, and a change had seemed appropriate.
Stepping over to her desk, Mitsu glanced down towards the small box sitting there. It contained hard copy prints of several photographs, most of them from her marriage that she had yet to sort through and decide what to do with. Quite a few were of her daughter, Naomi. Picking the box up, she held it for a moment before she opened the side panel built into the desk and set it there and closed the panel. There would be time that later, she decided.
Sitting down at her desk, she reached out and tapped the control keyboard build into the desktop. "Computer, begin recording. Captain's personal log, Stardate 242412.15. The crew and I have settled in aboard the Eclipse as best we can given the short amount of time that Admiral Shaw has given us to do so. This secret project that the admiral and Commander Harrington are working on is clearly a top priority, but whatever it is I have my reservations about the involvement of the Eclipse. We're going to have to hope that nothing major happens during our first mission, which is a simple fetch and delivery mission. I believe that another ship could have been tasked for this, but it might be a good, simple first mission for us to stretch our legs so to speak. The officers assigned under my command all seem to be quite capable, although there are a number of them who are fresh from the Academy. It will be interesting to see how everyone settles in once we get out and on our own. Computer, end recording and save."
Closing her eyes for a moment, Mitsu took a deep breath and slowly released it before opening them again. Standing, she started towards the bathroom. She needed a hot shower and some sleep before the Eclipse departed in the morning.
